Dr. Paul Reville – Keynote Speaker

Building on the excitement created by the 2016 Partner of the Year (POY) luncheon, PEP is thrilled to announce this year’s keynote speaker: Dr. Paul Reville. Dr. Reville brings an exemplary track record of leadership in the world of education policy and practice. In his keynote, Dr. Reville will illuminate ways different sectors of our community – business, education, government, health, not-for-profit, philanthropy – can work collaboratively to meet the needs of Greenville’s ever-growing and diversifying population of students.

Dr. Reville is the Francis Keppel Professor of Practice of Educational Policy and Administration at the Harvard Graduate School of Education (HGSE). He is the founding director of HGSE’s Education Redesign Lab, an effort to build a silo-breaking 21st-century engine for education to restore social mobility and ensure that all kids can reach their full potential. Over the last 30 years, Reville has played a leadership role in national education reform with deep involvement in the Massachusetts success story. He has served as Secretary of Education, as Chairman of the State Board of Education, as a State Board member for more than a decade, as founder of the Rennie Center for Education Research and Policy, and as co-founder of the Massachusetts Business Alliance for Education.

Reville’s career, which combines research, policy, and practice, began with service as a VISTA volunteer/youth worker. He served as a teacher and principal of two urban, alternative high schools. He also has familiarity with local education foundations like PEP, as he founded a similar foundation, which like PEP, was also part of the Public Education Network. He is a board member and adviser to a host of organizations, including PEP’s fellow OnTrack Greenville partner Building Educated Leaders for Life (BELL), and a frequent writer and speaker on education reform and policy issues. He holds a B.A. from Colorado College, an M.A. from Stanford University and five honorary doctorate degrees.

One purpose of PEP’s Partner of the Year event is to build the community’s knowledge and understanding of various education-related topics that has local relevance to Greenville. PEP seeks to do this by inviting a compelling voice to serve as our keynote speaker. Dr. Paul Reville fits this profile and we very much look forward to welcoming him to Greenville.
