School Board Candidates

Greenville County Schools Board of Trustees 2012 Election

School Board Elections
School board elections are held every two years with 6 of the 12 members elected each time.  In 2012 the odd-numbered board seats are up for election: areas 17, 19, 21, 23, 25 and 27.  (Find your district.)  An “(i)” next to a candidate’s name indicates he or she is the incumbent. School board races are non-partisan:  Candidates are not affiliated with a political party.  There is no run-off election in cases where there are more than two candidates.  Simply the person with the most votes wins.

Candidate Questionnaire and Forums
Public Education Partners, District 1 PTA and the Greenville County League of Women Voters co-sponsored a candidate questionnaire for all school board candidates.  Click on a candidate’s name below to read their responses to eight questions as well as information on their background.

The three organizations also co-sponsored two candidate forums for contested races:  One on October 16 for candidates in areas 19 and 23;   The other on October 23 for candidates in area 17.    The forums were videotaped and are being shown three times daily through election day on the Greenville County Schools channel, Charter channel 99.  See below for the show times for each forum.
