At Public Education Partners, we’re dedicated to improving public education in Greenville County – advocating for and supporting policy that supports public education is a lever to do so. But in order for effective change to occur, we need your help.
It all starts with awareness. By knowing what’s currently at stake in our public education system, you can become an effective advocate for our children, our teachers and our schools.
The 2017 session of the South Carolina State Legislature runs from January 12 through May 11. Below are the public education issues in the legislature that we are currently monitoring.
State K-12 funding
- Base Student Cost and other operational funding
- Funding for new school buses
Our Position: Support state funding of K-12 education at the levels required by state law. Specifically, fully fund the following state laws: The Education Finance Act of 1977 (the base student cost); the 2007 law enacting a 15-year school bus replacement cycle; and the state law funding buses for public school choice.
