Keynote Speaker

2019 Partner of the Year

One purpose of our Partner of the Year Luncheon is to build the community’s knowledge and understanding of various education-related topics that have local relevance to Greenville. To accomplish this, compelling voices are invited to deliver keynote addresses.

This year we are pleased to announce the keynote speaker will be Professor Derek W. Black, the Ernest F. Hollings Chair in Constitutional Law at the University of South Carolina School of Law.

Professor Black has authored three books on education law and thirty scholarly articles, including in journals such as Yale Law Journal, Stanford Law Review, NYU Law Review, Cornell Law Review, and Northwestern University Law Review. His work has been cited and relied upon several times in the federal courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.  His forthcoming book, Schoolhouse Burning, explains how current education trends represent a retreat from our nation’s foundational commitments to democracy.
